Update: A call to the City of Commerce confirmed that one person was injured as a result of today s shooting in Commerce. Other information, including the condition of the victim, was not shared. A separate social media post by Texas A&M University-Commerce appears to indicate that the victim is not a member of the university community.
A notification distributed to the Texas A&M University-Commerce community by the University Police Department Thursday afternoon warned of a shooting that was reported to have taken place just across the street from the university s Prairie Crossing student housing facility.

A notification shared with the Texas A&M University-Commerce community by the University Police Department Thursday afternoon warned of a shooting that was reported to have taken place just across the street from the university s Prairie Crossing student housing facility.
The text of the message shared follows: A shooting was reported to the Commerce Police Department at the corner of Monroe and Chestnut. The shots were fired from an older model grey 4 door car. The car was reported to have driven east on Lee St. away from campus. No further information is known at this time. This is an active investigation by Commerce PD and we are monitoring as information becomes available.
