The Marshalltown City Council decided to use a surplus fund balance from the current fiscal year to fix its general fund deficit for fiscal year 2022 during a special meeting on Monday.
City Administrator Jessica Kinser presented several options to the council during its regular meeting last week. The deficit in question is $62,193. City Finance Director Diana Steiner presented the proposed budget for fiscal year 2022 during the special meeting.
“We do need to move forward because the budgeting period is short,” Steiner said.
