General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, has apologised over recent tweets about invading neighbouring Kenya and capturing its capital city, Nairobi. Museveni earlier removed his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as commander of Uganda's land forces and asked for “forgiveness” for his son’s tweets. Kainerugaba was however promoted to the rank of a full general, the highest rank in the army and retained his position as presidential adviser on special operations.
Uganda and Kenya have settled a diplomatic row following Twitter comments that threatened to bruise relations between the two east African neighbours. Uganda's former Commander of Land Forces claimed it would take less than two weeks for his army to capture Nairobi.
