SHAH ALAM: The Gang 24 Bukit Raja crime syndicate has been recruiting students through blood initiations, says Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed.
Comm Arjunaidi said that the police believe the gang lures students by promising them protection, power and money. We have identified several schools targeted by the gang, he said, adding that police discovered the gang s recruitment plans after detaining 50 of its members for rioting at an entertainment outlet in Setia Alam in September.
He said that the rioting occurred after gang members damaged the outlet after gang members met the owner of the outlet to discuss monthly protection payments
The Selangor police chief said the gang was initially a club of 4X4 vehicles enthusiasts. We have investigated the gang since 2019 and so far, there is no solid evidence to connect them to underworld activities or crimes. The gang is led by a man known as Mr A, who is the husband of a female police officer with the rank of Deputy Superintendent (DSP). Allegations that a certain location was used as the gang s headquarters for alleged criminal activities is actually a place for fishing and to rent boats for the public, he told a press conference at the state police headquarters on Friday (April 9).
