Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz revealed that he shared some advice with Conor McGregor following the Irishman’s loss to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
McGregor (22-5 MMA, 0-1 Boxing) squared off with Mayweather (50-0 Boxing) 3.5 years ago in Las Vegas, where suffered a tenth-round TKO loss in his professional boxing debut.
Shortly after the conclusion of that highly lucrative contest, Conor McGregor would cross paths with Tito Ortiz for the very first time.
According to ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’, he took the opportunity to share some words of wisdom with the Irish star (via @FullContactMTWF on Twitter).
“A prime Tito Ortiz versus a prime Jon Jones.. Tito, what would be the outcome?”
The former UFC light heavyweight champion, Ortiz, responded with the following.
“Umm, I think I would win by split-decision.” – Tito suggested.
Of course Ortiz and Jones never actually had the pleasure of squaring off inside of the Octagon. With that said, both men hold victories over common opponents on their respective resumes such as Vladimir Matyushenko, Ryan Bader, Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen.

This is not the first time that Tito Ortiz has touched on a potential matchup with Jon Jones. Prior to his Combate Americas bout with Alberto El Patron in December of 2019, ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ shared the following information regarding a potential fight with ‘Bones’.

Johnny Eduardo’s return to the Octagon will not be happening this weekend as originally planned.
MMA Fighting reported on Monday that visa issues have prevented the 42-year-old Brazilian from traveling to the United States, ruling him out of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 22 preliminary card matchup with Anthony Birchak. Officials are looking for a replacement to fight Birchak on what is undoubtedly very short notice.
UFC featherweight Dan Ige threw one punch. Ige landed one punch.
And that got the job done. What an efficient workflow Saturday night at the Apex in Las Vegas on the Fight Night undercard of the Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad main event.
The fight began with Ige and Gavin Tucker circling in the center of the cage and measuring each other for about 20 seconds. Then Ige unleashed a single right hand that landed flush on Tucker s chin, and Tucker fell stiffly backward. He had barely hit the canvas before referee Mike Beltran jumped in to wave off the fight as a knockout at 22 seconds.
