Fire crews battling 2-alarm fire at storage facility in north Columbus

Updated: 10:50 PM EDT July 2, 2021 A 2-alarm fire was called out to a storage facility in north Columbus Friday night. Fire crews were called to Simply Self Storage in the 800 block of East Cooke Road around 9:15 p.m. on a report of a fire. According to Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin, crews initially had a difficult time getting to the fire due to a stopped train in the area.  As of 10:40 p.m., the fire spread to about 15 storage units. There are no reports of injuries. There is currently no information about what may have caused the fire.

2 injured after car hits nail salon in south Columbus

Updated: 6:28 PM EDT July 1, 2021 COLUMBUS, Ohio Two people are injured after a car crashed into a nail salon in the south Columbus area Thursday afternoon. The crash happened in the 700 block of Parsons Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m. According to Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin, multiple cars were involved in the crash and one of the cars ran into a nail salon.  Two people were injured. One was taken to an area hospital in stable condition and another had to be extracted from the car that hit the nail salon. Fire crews are currently working to stabilize the salon, according to Martin.
