An Anderson man traveled from South Carolina s Upstate to Washington, D.C,. to participate in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot aimed at stopping Joe Biden from becoming president and now faces multiple federal charges, according to court documents unsealed this week.
George Tenney III, 34, of Anderson, sought to help rioters enter the Capitol Building, confronting federal officers and other employees and forcing open a crucial door they had sought to keep secure, according to federal court documents. He now faces at least six charges in connection to the Capitol riot, according to documents made public just days ago.
Federal court records indicate that Tenney s Jan. 6 trip to the Capitol was not a spur-of-the moment decision and that he had discussed armed militia patriots and a siege of the building well before the riot.
