Two skilled nursing homes in Fort Collins that are run by Columbine Health Systems are among those ranked as among the nation’s top 750 such facilities in Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024.
Larimer County reported 22 new outbreaks this week down from 25 the last week and all but one had five or fewer cases. The overall number of active cases dropped as well, to 109.
Outbreaks newly reported this week included five assisted living and nursing facilities, three middle schools, two car dealerships, a domestic violence shelter and one elementary school.
This week’s largest outbreak was at City Park Church, 1725 W. Mulberry St. in Fort Collins. The church reported seven cases two staff and five attendees to the county. The outbreak was reported to the state on May 11.
Calls to the church seeking comment were not returned.

Donald Charles Mueller, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2021, at the Columbine West Health and Rehab Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Don was born on May 5, 1938, to Dorothy and Wilbur Mueller of Westfield, New Jersey. Upon graduating from Westfield High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for three years as a Torpedo Men’s Mate, Second Class, on the USS Redfin Submarine.
After completing his military service, Don married Maureen Hoyer and relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado to pursue a life embodying his love of nature. Don took great pleasure in the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman. His passion for freshwater fishing led to many trophy-sized trout from the streams and lakes of Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming.
