Vancouver-based Absci valued at nearly $2 billion in IPO trading

Vancouver-based biotechnology firm Absci held an initial public offering Thursday, resulting in a valuation of nearly $2 billion. The news comes a little more than a year after the company first filed a registration statement declaring its IPO plans.
Absci’s stock trades on the Nasdaq under the symbol ABSI. The company announced Wednesday that it would offer 12.5 million shares of common stock at $16 per share, with the goal of netting $200 million in gross proceeds.

The Vancouver City Council approved HP Inc.’s master plan to relocate its Clark County campus to a former mining site, giving the company the official green light to construct a multibuilding, 1.5 million-square-foot complex.

The Legislature passed a $6.3 billion capital budget Saturday, cementing a plan that includes major investments in Southwest Washington’s community and schools.
The biennial budget, which passed the House and the Senate unanimously, includes three major line items for local education facilities: $58.9 million for a new Clark College satellite campus in northern Clark County; $52.6 million for a new life sciences building at Washington State University Vancouver; and $55.1 million to the Washington School for the Deaf for a new academic and physical education building.
