The college opened an investigation into the centre in response to a complaint from student group Gender Engagement in Medicine (GEM).

According to its website, SPOC rejects “pro-life” or “pro-choice” labels, but the centre does not “perform or arrange for abortions” and states it hopes clients receiving its services “will choose the gift of life.”
After investigation, “SPOC will no longer be included as a placement site option. The decision was informed with input from many students and members of faculty,” College of Medicine Dean Preston Smith wrote in an emailed statement.
