Prices are on the rise for crude oil, chemicals, plastics, and much more as companies furiously try to stock up.
(Bloomberg) A year ago, as the pandemic ravaged country after country and economies shuddered, consumers were the ones panic-buying. Today, on the rebound, it’s companies furiously trying to stock up.
Mattress producers to car manufacturers to aluminum foil makers are buying more material than they need to survive the breakneck speed at which demand for goods is recovering and assuage that primal fear of running out. The frenzy is pushing supply chains to the brink of seizing up. Shortages, transportation bottlenecks and price spikes are nearing the highest levels in recent memory, raising concern that a supercharged global economy will stoke inflation.

Lorna Holmes experienced a range of emotions as she marched across the Oval in April to celebrate her graduation from Colorado State University’s College of Business.
Holmes thought about her mother, who she lost when she was 20 years old, and her father, who passed just five years ago, and how proud they would have been to see her complete her degree. Her thoughts also focused on her daughter, Morgan Sehi, and the pride she felt that her child was also graduating from CSU this year.

Jacob Altgilbers
Jacob Altgilbers’ journey that brought him to earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Colorado State University’s College of Business took a six-year detour around the world with the U.S. Army.
Altgilbers’ story begins in rural Illinois. When he graduated from high school at 17, he knew he wanted to leave the countryside where he grew up but couldn’t afford to attend college.
He decided to enlist in the Army, with the hope of making some money, traveling the world, and using his military benefits to go to college after his service.
