decided it was going to be a sanctuary from this law and they weren t going to follow something signed as the law of the land in the state that 81% of residents want. this is not about republicans or democrats. it s about rogue politicians in colorado springs who refuse to enforce basic common sense laws. there can be real tangible change to stop this stuff. i look at the stuff from doug lamborn, the congressman from this district. he didn t mention gay people or transpeople, or the lgbtq community. he offered prayers for the victims and thanked law enforcement. that is just not enough. here s the thing. we can recognize that there was a specific group targeted and they can enforce the law that the already on the books in that
you so much. joining me, now colorado state representative the first openly gay black woman elected to the state house of representative. thank you for being with us, colorado springs, your hometown, you knew this for a while, what does club q mean for the lgbtq+ community there? thank you so much for having, me and first i want to send my condolences to the folks down in colorado springs at club q. the victims and those who survived this tragedy, club q is a place of refuge, and is a place of solace. i have been going there a couple of times a year, since they opened almost 20 years ago now. 20 years ago they opened. they opened as a safe space for lgbtq people, allies and champions in the colorado springs community. a place of refuge, a place of connection. a place to just go and meet people who are like them, who are not going to judge us because of who we love or how we present.
