Thank you for coming out. United technology has sponsored these issues and i was holding out for a helicopter but you sold the company so i have to hold out for an elevator for the house or something. But anyway, and the great people at National Journal for putting this together. Great crowd. I want to put in a plug quickly. The brand new almanac of american politics just came out. It is an amazing 2084 pages. It is sort of everything you needed to know. I bought my first copy in 1972 when i was a senior in high school in louisiana. I bought everyone were you from louisiana . We went to the same high school. That is right anyway, so wow, see this is a real story. I didnt make it up. Just anyway, it is now at bookstores near you and amazon and all kinds of great places. There is an 18page introduction essay i wrote at the beginning. Just remember i wrote it over the summer. Cut me some slack there. What i am going to try to do is talk a little bit if you feel confused about the 2016 cam

Put a lot more emphasize e sis on being very conservative and how you presented yourself. Being very nervous about causing a, any kind of big controversy. And now i think is the third big change. It is not that radio or tv or print have gone away, social media is the new thing in the mix. In some ways it no longer emphasizes the image of a candidate. It puts much more emphasis on personality and you want a personality that does grab attention on social media. You want to be somebody who says something new all the time, rather than saying, repeating the same thing over and over again. That works on tv where you have a voters attention captured. You dont have that on social media. So saying the same thing over and over again, i think we see some traditional candidates like Hillary Clinton do that on social media and it kind of comes off dull. So i think what were going to see candidates have to adapt or politicians have to adapt to the new media or new generations of politicians will com

You know, a considerable resistant. So it is not only creating a political problem but it is coming across like his heart is not in this. The guy that was sort of an 800 pound gorilla when he was governor of florida who exuted strength and confidence and great certainty and now we are not seeing that anymore. I had a ceo of a big company that dealt with him a lot when he was governor say that guy, when he walked into a room, you knew someone walked into room. He projected this air. And he said i dont see this happening now. And i think we are seeing that in the debates. In interviews, and on the campaign trail so underperforming is an understatement. But he is in a position where he is going to have to turn it around and needed to the other night even but in the next couple twofour weeks because i dont think he is getting any new donors on board, any now donors, and there are a lot of big bundlers and fundraisers that were fully prepared to go his way but have been sitting back a littl

If bush doesnt one and then Chris Christie, there were a group of people that thought they could or would do really well and whats happened is theyve all underperformed and walker is already gone but its left this big vacuum in the conventional side of the party that nobody anticipated. And so, now, what was going on here . Well, first with bush. I think you can say first that the bush brand has been kind of dinged up some. This is not the brand dad left in 1992 or that w inherited in 2000. And i kind of wrote a column a year or so ago where i likened it to jeb bush is kind of the teenager whose older brother wrecked the family car just before you need it had for homecoming or prom or something and its not your fault that he wrecked it and you have to deal with the consequences and so theres that but closely associated with that is that the bush brand that was once a terrific brand in the Republican Party but its also, w notwithstanding, it is associated with sort of conventional histo

I always mess of her last name, the young lady, malaga . The courage she has taken speaking out on gun issues, impacting young girls, id love to be able to talk to her. I think shes 19 or 18 . Shes very young but she has put a lot of work into 18 and 19 years of life. Someone ive just spoken to once in my whole life, the former chess champion who was part of the political opposition in russia and cannot return to russia today. I had a chance
