SB23-190 violates the Federal Trafficking-in-Victims Protection Act (TVPA) and Colorado's anti-trafficking law HB14-1273, as well as HB22-1279 (RHEA, Reproductive Health Equality Act) which states, “A pregnant individual has a fundamental right to continue the pregnancy and give birth or to have an abortion. .”
The Sept. 4 Opinion page included commentary from The New York Daily News proclaiming as purely ideological the recent federal court proceedings contesting the FDA approval of mifepristone. I am struck by the similarity of those editors’ criticisms with my own criticisms of recent Colorado governmental decisions: Each is matched on the opposite side of the argument about “medication abortion.” Misrepresentations are odious and poor long-term strategy for either viewpoint.
