Sri Lanka has confirmed 05 more COVID-19 related deaths, Director-General of Health Services confirmed today (February 26).
This brings the country’s death toll from the virus to 464, Department of Government Information said.
Details of the recently-reported COVID victims are as follows:
01. A 69-year-old man from Nawadagala area – He had been under medical at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital. After testing positive for the virus, he was transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where he passed away yesterday (February 25). The cause of death was recorded as COVID pneumonia, acute kidney disease and high blood pressure.
02. A 72-year-old woman from Narahenpita area – She was transferred from Colombo National Hospital to Homagama Base Hospital upon testing positive for the virus. She died today due to COVID infection and shock caused by blood poisoning.

Total COVID-19 deaths reported in Sri Lanka climbed to 397 on Sunday (February 14) as seven more persons were confirmed to have fallen victim to the virus.
According to the Department of Government Information, one of the deceased is an 85-year-old man from Gothatuwa area. He was transferred from a private hospital in Colombo to National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) where he passed away today. The cause of death was cited as COVID-19 pneumonia, blood poisoning and kidney disease.
A 72-year-old female from Angoda area also died today due to shock from blood poisoning, COVID-19 pneumonia and complications of kidney disease. According to reports, she was transferred from Colombo National Hospital to Homagama Base Hospital after testing positive for the virus.

The Director General of Health Services confirms eight (08) more Covid-19 related deaths have been reported increasing the death toll due to the virus in Sri Lanka to 351.
The victims include a 77-year-old woman from Kochchikade, who was identified as Covid-19 positive while being treated at the Negombo District Hospital and was later transferred to the IDH. She had passed away today (06) due to shock caused by blood poisoning, Covid-19 pneumonia and kidney disease.
A 73-year-old woman from Kadawatha, who was transferred from Colombo North Teaching Hospital to Mulleriyawa Base Hospital after being identified as infected with the virus, had passed away on February 05. The cause of death is listed as heart condition, Covid-19 pneumonia and kidney disease.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed following four deaths caused by COVID-19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 199 by now.
01. The deceased is a 72 year old male resident of Batticaloa. He has died on 30 December while receiving treatment at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital. The cause of death was mentioned as a pneumonia associated with COVID-19 and meningitis.
