RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Colombia unanimously archived the preliminary investigation against the presidential campaign of Juan Manuel Santos in 2014 for the alleged entry of money from the Brazilian multinational Odebrecht, the agency reported Wednesday.
The determination was adopted by the full chamber of the National Electoral Council (CNE), which recalled that the investigation was reopened in 2019 after receiving a notification against Santos and his campaign by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The Prosecutor’s Office decided after hearing the statement of businessman Andrés Sanmiguel, who pointed out the alleged irregular entry of money to the 2014 presidential campaign. That would not have been reported in the books delivered to the National Electoral Council.

Ex-FARC leader Jesús Santrich killed in Venezuela, says dissident group 2 minutes read
Bogotá, May 18 (EFE).- A former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) leader, Jesús Santrich, has been killed in Venezuela, his dissident group said Tuesday.
Santrich (birth name Seuxis Paucias Hernández Solarte) once helped lead the FARC, but then became a negotiator for the peace deal struck with the government in 2016, which ended 50 years of war. He later abandoned the deal and returned to arms.
The rebel leader died while traveling in a truck in Venezuela when it was ambushed by Colombian commandos with rifle fire and grenades, the group named Segunda Marquetalia said in a statement, which could not be verified.
