Alfred parking meters being replaced with ParkMobile app

ALFRED Out with nearly 100 old parking meters, in with a new parking app. The Alfred village board has approved a measure to remove its decades-old parking meters and transition to a digital payment method that increases the cost to park at metered sites by $1 for the first hour. Using the ParkMobile app, it will cost $1.25 to park for 60 minutes, the minimum time allotment. After an hour, the cost is 25 cents for each increment of 12 minutes up to a maximum of three hours. The village will absorb ParkMobile’s 35 cents fee from the $1.25 per hour cost to park, according to the agreement.

Active COVID-19 cases decline in Steuben County for 2nd straight week Active cases at 320, down from 687 two weeks ago Staff reports BATH  Steuben County ended the week with 320 active COVID-19 cases Friday, down from 391 a week previous and 687 two weeks ago.  Steuben County health officials were encouraged by the decline, as well as a decrease in the daily rate of new cases.  The county added 33 new COVID-19 cases Friday, and did not record a single-day total higher than 41 during the week.  “It is encouraging that this week has stayed relatively steady with a lowered number of cases compared to weeks past,” said Public Health Director Darlene Smith. “To keep this trend moving forward, we must all continue to follow the COVID prevention strategies, including identifying contacts so they can be appropriately quarantined and not risk further spread.”
