College Place Middle School is one of 13 Pacific Northwest middle and high schools that will benefit from Seattle-based Pemco Mutual Insurance’s school supply drive benefiting homeless and underserved students.
The goal of the annual “Supply Surge” school supply drive, running now through Aug. 6, is to help close the opportunity gap for students in need by making sure they start the school year with the necessary supplies.
Supply Surge will bring together 37 businesses in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, as well as donors from across the state, to provide students with essential school supplies – from paper and pencils to backpacks and calculators– as schools return to in-person learning this fall.

Edmonds School Board set to discuss i-Ready math, reading curriculum at May 25 meeting Posted: May 24, 2021 229
The Edmonds School District Board of Directors will consider at is May 25 business meeting whether to continue the implementation of i-Ready Diagnostic and Online Instruction in grades K-8. Staff are also asking that i-Ready Math Diagnostic be required in grade 9.
The board approved the
implementation of the i-Ready math curriculum last September. Staff will give a report with culmination of the three-year process to review and make improvements recommendations to the assessment system. The report will also detail the stages of this process and the i-Ready pilot this year.

Now that students are back in school buildings, the Edmonds School District is making a plea to the community and their pets to stay off district campuses during school hours.
When the schools closed last March as part of Gov. Jay Inslee’s stay-at-home order, many people with dogs spent time outdoors on school athletic playfields. However, since students have begun returning to in-person learning this year, district staff say schools are having a recurring problem with people bringing their pets many off leash on campus while class is in session.
