DERB S FEBRUARY DIARY [10 ITEMS]: Courageous Politicians In Spain; Defund (Some) Police! From Biologism, to Culturism, to Anti-Whitism; ETC | Articles

a- Politicians with courage (in Spain).     In the Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump, February 9th–13th, video footage was shown of events in the Capitol building during the January 6th protests. I had things to say about that video footage in my February 12th podcast. They were not very kind things. I spoke of the congressfolk scampering off to safety under the guidance of armed Capitol Hill cops while an  un-armed mob filled the corridors. I quoted a friend s email from earlier in the year, one that had made such an impression on me, I d posted it here on VDARE.com at the time. Here it is again.

Making a Mockery of Academic Debate - Jonathan Marks, Commentary Magazine

Making a Mockery of Academic Debate Late this January, the Lehigh University College of Business published a short video about poverty. In the video, professor of economics Frank Gunter sets out to debunk three myths about poverty: that it is mainly a matter of race, that it is a generational curse, and that the poor have no power to change their circumstances. As the editorial board of Lehigh University’s student newspaper put it, Gunter’s claims “are not only false and damaging but are also blatantly racist.”

FIRE objects after Ole Miss dismisses professor who complained about department chair

FIRE objects after Ole Miss dismisses professor who complained about department chair FIRE sent a letter to the University of Mississippi today calling for “a full and transparent account” of why the university decided not to renew the contract of assistant history professor Garrett Felber and asking the institution to reconsider its decision. Felber, a public critic of Ole Miss’ record on racial equity issues, has taught at Ole Miss for four years. This year, he’s on leave, completing a fellowship at Harvard University’s Hutchins Center for African and African American Research. The administration’s notice letter cites Felber’s reluctance to have a real-time conversation with his supervisor. But, as FIRE’s Individual Rights Defense Program Director Adam Steinbaugh notes in our letter, Felber was being called to have that conversation to discuss his exercise of his First Amendment rights:
