SAN ANTONIO – The city of San Antonio has announced that beginning Monday, masks and social distancing will be optional for fully vaccinated staff and clients at city facilities.
The announcement comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday new guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing for people who are fully vaccinated.
Officials said the city will discontinue temperature checks at city facility entrances. However, if a person is experiencing symptoms, they should not enter city facilities, officials said.

SAN ANTONIO A virtual town hall is being held Tuesday night to give citizens a chance to weigh in on police services. According to city leaders, they’re looking for the public’s feedback on a variety of law enforcement angles.
They’re hoping to learn more specifically about the “community’s expectations of the role of police in the community, as well as response alternatives for responding to potential calls for service.”

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff and Assistant City Manager Dr. Colleen Bridger updated the community about the local response to COVID-19 in their briefing Monday night.
Nirenberg reported that Bexar County has recorded its lowest COVID-19 positivity rate ever, at 1.9%, which is the lowest in the state of Texas.
The mayor also reported 216,339 total COVID-19 cases and 3,350 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 233 new cases since Sunday. No new deaths were reported today.

City of San Antonio to convert Alamodome into mass, no-cost COVID-19 vaccination site
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio city officials announced Monday that a drive-thru option for the COVID-19 vaccine will now be available to the public.
The city said in a news release that people 16 years and older can now get a COVID-19 vaccination without an appointment from 2 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday at the Alamodome.
San Antonio Assistant City Manager Dr. Colleen Bridger said the city wanted to make the process easier for people seeking a vaccine.
