Open-air zoo to come up near Debjharan Post News Network
Sambalpur: In a bid to attract more tourists to Debjharan waterfall in this district, the district administration has planned to establish an open-air zoo in Jarang forest near the waterfall, a report said.
The Debjharan waterfalls under Jujumura block in Sambalpur is one of the major waterfalls in the state. It is around 25 km from Sambalpur and is surrounded by dense forest. Debjharan is pretty famous among the locals.
Legends say that the gods used to bathe in the waterfall hence the name ‘Debjharan’, meaning the god’s waterfall. Debjharan isn’t enormous yet wonderful and secured with woods.

SAMBALPUR: Residents of Sakhipada blocked the VSS Marg on Thursday demanding arrest of the culprits involved in the murder of a 20-year-old youth on December 15. Vehicular movement was disrupted on the busy thoroughfare for around two hours due to the blockade, leading to severe traffic congestion on VSS Marg.
On December 15 night, a group of miscreants had brutally attacked Bijay Nayak of Sakhipada within Dhanupali police limits with sharp weapons and sticks in full public view. A severely injured Bijay was rushed to VIMSAR, Burla but was declared dead by the doctors. Past enmity is said to be the reason behind the murder.
Maa Samaleswari temple to reopen for devotees from January 3rd next year 92
Sambalpur: The Sambalpur district administration has decided to reopen the Maa Samaleswari temple from January 3, next year.
District Collector Subham Saxena, Commissioner Anirudh Pradhan and members of temple committees have formally agreed to open the religious places including Maa Samaleswari.
During the interactive meeting, it was decided that the coronavirus guidelines will be strictly adhered to during the reopening of temples and religious places in the district.
Sources at the district administration said a detailed guideline will be prepared for adhering to the Covid norms.
