false election claims like the former president. arizona voters have picked david farnsworth over rusty bowers in the gop primary for senate. bowers, you may remember, delivered emotional testimony to the january 6th committee in june. farnsworth had said of the 2020 election this is a real conspiracy headed up by the devil himself. that s a quote from the gop candidate there now. but it was the vote to protect abortion rights in kansas that could be a major recursor, a sign at least for november. voters there rejected an amendment that could have led to an abortion ban in that state. let s begin in michigan, though. political correspondent sara murray in grand rapids. looking broadly at last night s results, potentially a major impact on what we see in november. you ve got election deniers winning the republican nomination in a lot of states. in kansas another sign. reporter: oh absolutely. when you look at michigan, it was a great night for election deniers. we saw john g

is cnn newsroom, with kim brun brunhuber. we begin with breaking news out of moscow. russia is confirming for first time that it did strike the ukrainian port of odesa. the russian foreign ministry now says it hit military targets in the port with precision missiles, but these strikes came one day after ukraine and russia signed an agreement in istanbul, which would allow ukraine to resume grain exports through its ports. now, turkey said moscow initially denied it had anything to do with the strikes, and turkey said the attack hit port facilities, but didn t damage any infrastructure that would be used in grain exports. condemnation of the attack has been swift with britain saying russia s word can t be taken at face value. it is absolutely appalling that only a day after striking this deal, vladimir putin has launched a completely unwarranted attack on odesa. it shows that not a word he says can be trusted, and we need to urgently work with our international partners

shooter crossed steve off, he was moving down a list. a long list. she came running towards my vehicle. there was blood dripping from her face. six murders. my gut just dropped. in four days. this was a homicide investigation in overdrive. it was. a city under siege. there was a lot of fear, there was a lot of unrest in the community. people were desperate for a suspect. who else could have been on that list? i had my own personal terrorist. and why. people don t get gunned down their offices. there had to be a link. the most haunting question of all could those six lives have been saved? steve always said these things never happened in a vacuum. there are always warning signs. so, losing him the way that we did was stunning to me. hello, and welcome to dateline. forensics psychiatrist steve pitt was well known for his work on high profile criminal cases. when he was shot outside his phoenix office, it was a big story. nobody knew it ye

and yes, it coincides with ugly rhetoric from former president trump and others linking the coronavirus and china as the pandemic worsened across our country. one group tracking anti-asian hate say they ve received some reports of 3,800 incidents with over two thirds of the attacks reported by women. today the vice president, president, atlanta s mayor all condemned such crimes. whatever the motivation here i know that asian-americans are very concerned. we ve been speaking about the brutality against asian-americans for the last couple of months and i think it is very, very troubling. i do want to say to our asian-american community that we stand with you and understand how this has frightened and shocked and outraged. this is an issue that s happening across the country. it is unacceptable. it is hateful, and it has to stop. just today the director of national intelligence, the dni, released a new report about extremist violence compiled with the help of the justice
