The Wisconsin Supreme Court is expected to hand down its final ruling soon in one of President Donald Trumpâs last remaining election challenges after a rare Saturday hearing that featured heated rhetoric and a few justices open to some of Trumpâs arguments that local elections officials didnât follow state law.
Justices will need to issue a ruling swiftly because Wisconsinâs 10 presidential electors are set to vote for President-elect Joe Biden on Monday.
Also on Saturday, a federal judge in Milwaukee dismissed another one of Trumpâs lawsuits seeking to overturn Wisconsinâs presidential election result. U.S. District Judge Brett Ludwig, a Trump appointee, said Trumpâs arguments that the court should order the Republican-controlled Legislature to name him the winner âfail as a matter of law and fact.â

After spending most of Thursday hearing arguments, Judge
Brett Ludwig must now make a ruling on the merits of
Donald Trump‘s federal challenge to Wisconsin’s election results.
But even when he does, it’s not likely to settle the matter.
“Nobody on this call thinks that my word is the last word on this,” said Ludwig, referencing a possible appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Ludwig, a Trump appointee to Wisconsin’s Eastern District, said his ruling would come in “the next day or two.” And at that point, another Trump challenge in a state court will have had its first hearing. The parties will argue that case on Friday starting at 9:00 a.m. Those results are also expected to be appealed.
