Banagher Precast Concrete is encountering price hikes and supply chain issues but remains upbeat about the rest of 2021, according to Colin Egan. The company has had to adjust to operating in the midst of a global pandemic and Brexit.
The most recent challenges have arisen in the availability of raw materials and the cost of inputs: “There have been relentless price hikes on some of our key raw materials in recent months. The increase in steel is well documented and despite us being a concrete manufacturer, steel would be our largest material cost here due to the high level of reinforcement in our products.”

The biggest headlines from the recent announcement regarding the Loew’s Jersey Theatre were about the fact that DAG, which owns the Devils and manages the Prudential Center, is expected to become the commercial operator of the Loew’s and that a total restoration is being planned. That focus was understandable since the news means the hope for a regular schedule of major popular concerts at the Loew’s and also that the funding for the kind of restoration the landmark deserves will finally come true.

Ninety years ago, the Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theater was a marvel.
For 25 cents, visitors to what was billed as “The Most Lavish Temple of Entertainment in New Jersey” could see live jazz and orchestral music, acrobats, orchestras, comedians, and a film, all-inclusive. Before the theater fell into disrepair in the mid-20th century, the lobby alone featured vases from the Vanderbilts’ collection, imported French statues, and a Italian marble fountain swimming with goldfish.

Loew s Jersey, the spectacular but deteriorating 92 year-old movie palace at Jersey City s Journal Square, will be getting an estimated $72 million upgrade, the office of the mayor announced today.
A partnership of Devil s Arena Entertainment (DAE), operators of the Prudential Center, and the city will transform the venue into a code-compliant, modern entertainment center that will still maintain the dazzling gilt and marble architectural features that wowed the first ticket-buyers in 1929.
There will be major concert acts no names announced, yet but also community based cultural activities. And yes, there will be movies.
