In 2021, Gov. Hochul signed legislation making it an official goal of the state that by 2035 all new passenger cars and trucks sold in New York would be zero-emission vehicles. This was further underscored in the recent CLCPA Scoping Plan, published in the twilight of 2022.
Nearly one year ago, New York City secured a major victory for affordable fossil fuel-free buildings now it’s time for Gov. Hochul and legislative leaders to bring the benefits statewide. Thanks to legislation signed into law last December, all new buildings in the city will be built without fossil fuel hookups, starting in 2024 for buildings under seven stories.
