The controversial chairman of the National Trust has resigned amid a growing revolt among members over his woke policies.
Tim Parker s decision to quit was announced just 24 hours after a highly critical motion at this year s AGM said the membership had no confidence in his leadership and demanded his resignation.
Members, ministers and MPs had grown increasingly frustrated with Mr Parker s chairmanship, which critics said he used to take the 126-year-old charity in a politically correct direction.
Last September, the Trust published an sensational 115-page report which blacklisted 93 of its estates over their alleged links to slavery - including Chartwell in Kent, home of Sir Winston Churchill.

Following the success of its Welcome Back Beer Festival over the May bank holiday, Carleton Road Social Club is hosting a free live music event this weekend.
Rockabilly and roll band Those Deadbeat Cats will be performing outside, with table service at the event, and no booking is required.
There will also be street food available from the Dirty Fryer Boys van, which launched in January this year and tours villages in Norfolk, and the menu includes burgers and loaded fries.

The National Trust has ordered all of its volunteers to undergo diversity training as the organisation continues its woke rebrand.
The heritage body is forcing everyone, including rangers who do not work with the public, to carry out the training as they return to work from lockdown.
It has already caused friction among volunteers and led to several resignations, with one slamming the Trust s new political agenda .

The Summer Exhibition Committee members are Royal Academicians Tony Bevan, Vanessa Jackson, Mali Morris, Humphrey Ocean, Eva Rothschild, Bob and Roberta Smith and Emma Stibbon. For this year’s exhibition, Shonibare will explore the theme of ‘Reclaiming Magic’ and celebrate the joy of creating art. He also plans to include some work that has not been made in a ‘Western tradition’. Shonibare said: “Reclaiming Magic’ is an exhibition that seeks a return to the visceral aspects of art-making. It will transcend the Western canon, which formed the foundations of the Royal Academy and Western Art History’s reference points. The exhibition will be a celebration of the transformative powers of the magical in art, a return to the ritualistic and the sheer joy of m
