The third national lockdown could be the final nail in the coffin for some pubs. That’s the view of Swindon’s Campaign for Real Ale member John Stooke, who believes the next few months could be tough for independents in the town. Under the new regulations all pubs, bars, cafes and regulations must close unless operating a delivery or takeaway service. But an additional rule means no alcohol is allowed to be collected, only delivered. John said: “Every time this happens, it potentially puts a nail in the coffin of more hospitality venues. “Arkell s seem to have reasonable resources to weather the storm and they account for more than half of Swindon’s pubs.
