(Gazette file photo) Shares0 Playhouse Stage Company will get back to business later this month with the first local in-person theatrical production since the pandemic began. The theater company will hold performances of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” from April 30-May 9 at the Cohoes Music Hall. The production is the longest-running revue in off-Broadway history and, through a small cast of characters, it details the hijinks that ensue in the dating game.

Live entertainment showing signs of rebirth

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. — Spring is a season of rebirth, a fact proven by local entertainment announcements over the past week. Playhouse Stage company announced that at the end of April it will be producing a musical indoors at the Cohoes Music Hall. “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” will run Fridays through Sundays, April 30-May 9. Seating is limited to 50 people a performance. Masks, social distancing and contact tracing will be in effect. Tickets are $30 each. - Advertisement - The four person cast details the joys and problems of courtship and marriage. The first act is a light-hearted look at dating; the second examines the equally funny realization that courting and wedding require two separate skill sets.

Ten productions excel in a difficult year

This is the time of year usually allotted to Top Ten lists. Who in 2020 had ten live entertainment experiences? If you put a positive spin on things, it was a great year. About half the shows I saw were top ten worthy. But it is less impressive if you consider that instead of the nearly 100 plays I see a year, this year the total was only 19. That’s because theaters shut down on March 12, making for a 10-week season. What’s remarkable is more than half the titles on the Top Ten List were shows I attended after the shutdown. A time in which no one expected theater to happen.
