in congress, as well tharks the obstruction of justice in public? the odd thing of the cohen testimony, the shellacking the republicans gave him, but i don t think people doubted. there are a half dozen or so crimes that it appears likely i m a prosecutor. i don t want to say beyond a reasonable doubt that the president did. we now have this political puzzle that nobody seems to care. they re certainly grave. they rise above the level of previous presidents. yes, i think the prima fascia case of obstruction is strong. what will penetrate the torper of congressional republicans as proof mounts? maybe nothing. harry litman, we ll leave it there. thank you. a.b., thank you. mark and geoff, thank you, as well. deadly tornadoes. a series of devastating storms
we re left over with the cold part of the storm now in parts of new england but this is quickly moving off too. that is good news for everyone in the northeast with the snow, everyone for better news in the southeast where we re going to see a day of cleanup, it s going to be a tough day for many there. it s a tough day in the northeast too with getting to work and getting to school. we do have warning and advisories in place. back behind us we re going to see a cold air infiltration as we go throughout the day. down even in the south, we re going to be dealing with cold air. chris? michelle grossman, thank you so much for that. up next the only committee that can recommend trump s impeachment is now looking into potential pardons, abuses of power and witness tampering. we re digging into the house judiciary committee s investigation next. first, snl s take on the cohen testimony and ohio congressman and ranking member jim jordan. you know something, mr. cohen, i have never e
he was saying. so as a witness and even a convicted felon and even someone who has lied under oath, he did himself favors. now it all comes down to what the public thinks of this. will the public believe him over the president after two years of constantly attacking mueller. it might stick. this polling about was there collusion and was there not. it s gotten into people s heads. the question is, does it get to independent s heads or people who aren t already in the president. i mentioned when the poll was taken. it was a cliche with a nod to the famous children s book. how inoured are we to that? is it an aberration, with this trip to vietnam and with what happened on capitol hill. i think him being out of the country on a very bad week. usually he s been boosted by being on the international stage except with the helsinki trip. as far as the cohen testimony, i
that made mr. trump president. these people who facilitated his rise will remain long after mr. trump is gone. nelson, what do you think? well, cohen s testimony wednesday was riveting. and don t forget, that was only one-third of the testimony he gave this week. he spoke tuesday to the house intelligence committee. he spoke wednesday in public. and we all saw that. thursday, he spoke to the senate intelligence committee. we only saw one-third of it. think about this. all of the pieces we have seen this week, the cohen testimony, trump s tax returns, perhaps, about to be provided, bob mueller has known all of this for months, because he had the opportunity to question cohen for months. every question that was asked of cohen this week, mueller has already asked him months ago. trump s tax returns, you have to assume that mueller had those not long after he began this investigation some 20 months ago. what we re seeing now, thanks to
representatives to have opposition in our primary and get back to the voters, have our feet on the grounds, hear their complaints, you know, make sure that we are in touch, we feel the pulse of the districts that we represent. that s something that makes democracy stronger and our party certainly more strong. what about the president s two-hour-plus speech at cpac yesterday? it was very free-wheeling. he was not, certainly, working with a teleprompter. he used some pretty colorful language, which i don t think i ll be able to repeat, or else i might get censored. but the fact that he said i was being sarcastic calling on russia to find hillary clinton e-mails during the 2016 campaign. is that how that was being interpreted? well, he had a tough week. the president had a tough week, and he came back from his meeting with north korea, and i think he tried to lighten up a little bit, because he certainly had a rough week with the jared incident, with the cohen testimony, and with the
