is going to go on in her house. two misspellings while we were on the air friday night that started this whole cavalcade. my question to you, what about the anxiety in-house? knowing only that they re coming, but not knowing what they re going to say. right. that points to the mood of the president right now. remember, it s sort of laughable looking back on it, but the white house had hoped that last week in mar-a-lago would be a nice distraction for the president, to keep him out of washington as the james comey book lands, as the cohen probe intensifies, you know. he originally was even supposed to spend a couple days in latin america. that of course got scuttled. they thought he would be jam-packed with events with prime minister abe in japan, who was in florida. but then of course we had a lot of executive time starting friday and over the weekend. these tweets, i think, are an excellent indication of where he is and the people we ve talked to around him suggest he is rattled. he
he got north korea policy wrong, went after maggie haberman before she even had a chance to pick out what shelf her pulitzer is going to go on in her house. two misspellings while we were on the air friday night that started this whole cavalcade. my question to you, what about the anxiety in-house? knowing only that they re coming, but not knowing what they re going to say. right. that points to the mood of the president right now. remember, it s sort of laughable looking back on it, but the white house had hoped that last week in mar-a-lago would be a nice distraction for the president, to keep him out of washington as the james comey book lands, as the cohen probe intensifies, you know. he originally was even supposed to spend a couple days in latin america. that of course got scuttled. they thought he would be jam-packed with events with prime minister abe of japan, who was in florida. but then of course we had a lot of executive time starting friday and over the weekend. these tw
target in either the cohen probe or the mueller probe as well, and jim comey had said the same thing as well. three times he told the senate judiciary committee that he told the president you are not under investigation. if he brings those kind of kr creds that you re lauding there, why did he not join the administration? he ran for office in 2012 and but there was speculation he really wanted the ag job, and in fact it went to jeff sessions, right? but no one ever knows the terra firma that is in the president s eyes. is there a possibility that he may make a pitch for that job at some point? i don t think there s ever been any doubt that he already had an in with president trump. they re both from new york, they ve known each other for a long time, so i don t think there is any question around any of that.
yes, getting involved in terms of chemical weapons is an important national interest but let s not kid ourselves that somehow if we stopped chemical weapons from being used the horror of what is going on is going to somehow stop, as well. i want to ask you a quick question. the new york times is reporting that allies of president trump believe the criminal investigation into the president s lawyer out of the u.s. attorney s office that that is more threatening to the president than special counsel robert mueller s investigation into possible collusion. you know more about the evidence or lack thereof. what do you think? does the cohen probe bear more of a threat? i think it is really important to realize that what is going on in the district of new york is not under the council mueller. this is a separate investigation by a united states attorney s office in the southern district of new york.
recordings of him as well. scott, what is your take on this new york times reporting that trump s con iffidants view cohen and the probe as a bigger threat to him than perhaps the mueller probe? well, i understand it. it s more opaque. we don t know exactly what is on the recordings. we don t know exact lay what was taken out of his office. we don t know how far back it goes. we know he s been under investigation for a number of months. there s a black hole of investigation. on the mueller side, you know who has been in to see the special counsel. you sort of know what buckets they re looking at. obstruction and the russia collusion stuff. on the cohen piece, there s a lot of unknowns. any time you re flying through clouds and your instrument panel is down, it s scary. i think that s how they view the cohen probe right now. we earlier played a clip of comey saying polls may have influenced his decision to go public on the clinton e-mails and the investigation that reopened i days
