A 39-year-old Santa Rosa driver has been arrested for DUI and evading police. Early Thursday morning, a Santa Rosa Police officer was in the area of Dutton Avenue north of the Joe Rodota Trail when he observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of a lane of traffic. He noticed the vehicle commit more traffic violations before attempting a traffic stop at Sebastopol Road and West Avenue. The driver refused to stop. Officers used a spike strip which deflated one of the vehicle’s tires but the driver continued driving through the parking lot of the Coddingtown Mall and surrounding restaurants, then onto Steele Lane. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a light pole on the corner of Lewis Road and Franklin Avenue. The driver, identified as Juan Manuel Garcia Zaragoza, fled the vehicle but was detained a short distance away.
