A grassroots group that plans to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the War in Vietnam in 2025 will convene its first public meeting about their ideas on Saturday, Dec. 16 at the VietAID Community Center on Charles Street. The meeting, which will take place at noon, will include a discussion about an proposed art installation located in Fields Corner.
Many Bostonians have always had a difficult relationship with the winter months, if not a disdain. But city officials want to change that and persuade residents to embrace cold, and they began their mission with a display at Town Field last week.
Fields Corner has become the “hot spot” in the city for Bubble Tea and other Asian drinks and desserts, thanks to its cluster of Vietnamese businesses that were well poised to capitalize on an international surge of interest in the market. “I would say Bubble Tea is to Fields Corner what the cannoli is to the North End,” said Jackey West Devine, director of Fields Corner Main
Grace Kinstler and her dad always shared a love of music.
When she was 4, and he was sick with cancer, she coped by âfiddling onâ piano and singing.
âMy dad had cancer twice. [Music] was always an outlet for me,â said Kinstler, 20, now a songwriting major at Bostonâs Berklee College of Music and a talented competitor on âAmerican Idol.â
On karaoke nights, dadâs song was âMy Way,â by Frank Sinatra. And he proudly taped little Grace singing the Carole King-written Aretha Franklin hit â(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Womanâ when she was just 8.
âIt was god-awful,â Kinstler, a native of Crystal Lake, Ill., recalled with a chuckle. âHe always acted like I walked on water.â
