New space created at town library | Times and Star

AN overgrown yard has been transformed into a colourful outside space for Cockermouth Library. Three town councillors - David Malloy, Alan Kennon and Simon Nicholson - have cleared out the area at the back of the Main Street building. Councillor Kennon, who is also a borough and county councillor, used £500 of his county council funds to pay for two benches, made out of recycled plastic. One is suitable for wheelchair users. I just wanted to encourage kids to come here, said Councillor Kennon. If it proves popular we might be able to put in some more. Councillor Malloy said: The area was a wilderness, there was weeds, moss and ivy. We cleared it all up.
