patterson is a suspect. the man hunt underway right now. let s begin on the ground in atlanta with charles watson. hi, charles. good afternoon, gillian. at this point in this investigation, police are having folks here in the midtown area shelter in place. you can see here behind me there s heavy police presence out here. police are starting to condense this crime scene some and move it back closer to the building where the shooting is presumed to have happened. you mentioned just a few moments ago, police released the identity of a suspect, the man that police believe is behind the shooting that happened here in midtown this morning. he s identified as deon patterson. he is a 24-year-old man and police are asking folks to be on the lookout for patterson. urging the public not to approach him and call 911 instead because he is considered armed and dangerous. now, we just got an update from police a few moments ago. they said they were aware of a carjacking in the vicinity o
federal prosecutor, currently sheltering in place at her home three blocks from the shooting scene. thanks for being with us. how you feeling at this moment? good, gillian. it s a little disconcerting to be living in an area i lived here about 16 years now. while i appreciate what everybody is saying about atlanta having some dangerousness, of course it does. it s a major city. every major city is having crime problems, but this neighborhood in particular where i live and midtown, a couple blocks away where this happened, this is a really quiet neighborhood. you have the biggest law firms in the city, in the state and some of the top five law firms in the country all clustered in that area. major businesses a few blocks away from coca-cola headquarters. so this is normally just a business district where people are shopping and working in the middle of the day on wednesday. so it s a little disconcerting this has happened. where i live in my neighborhood,
