Georgia COVID cases reach 857,307; 24% of Chatham residents vaccinated

Georgia’s confirmed case count for COVID-19 rose by 1,004 to reach 857,307 on Tuesday, while the statewide death toll increased by 12 to reach 16,761, according to figures posted just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday by the Georgia DPH.  As of Tuesday Georgia had administered 4,260,576 doses of the COVID vaccine for a rate of 40,951 vaccine doses administered per 100,000 Georgians, as reported by the state s new vaccine dashboard. More than 27% of all Georgians have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 15% are fully vaccinated, according to the dashboard. Just over 68,000 (24%) Chatham County residents have received at least one dose; and 50,000 (15%) have been fully vaccinated, according to the DPH dashboard.

Awarded $2.5 Million Rural Healthcare Workforce Grant AUGUSTA - Coastal Counties Workforce, Inc., of Brunswick, has been awarded a $2.5 million grant by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to create a rural health training program in Cumberland, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Waldo, and York Counties. The grant is part of approximately $40 million in H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant Program funds U.S. DOL awarded to partnerships of public and private entities to address rural healthcare workforce shortages in communities across the country.
