SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A streak of burglaries took place in the Santa Barbara area early Monday morning.
South Coast Deli and Choi’s Oriental Market on Patterson Avenue in Goleta had their front doors shattered in. The deli had its cash drawer and safe stolen.
Jim St. John is the owner of South Coast Deli.
“The alarm company called us right away, called sheriffs right away, and we hustled over here and found the place with the glass broken into the door and they took one cash drawer and they took our safe,” St. John said.
St. John said the only thing the business could do was clean up the mess and get ready for the workday.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff s detectives are investigating four recent burglaries at local businesses.
Deputies say the suspects forced entry overnight and stole items.
The first incident happened on Friday, July 23 in the 5800-block of Hollister Avenue at Old Town Coffee. Deputies say a suspect smashed a window to gain entry, stole various items from inside the business, and fled prior to their arrival.
Three more businesses were burglarized in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 25. South Coast Deli and Choi s Market, on the 100-block of S. Patterson Avenue, were both burglarized with their front glass doors were smashed. The suspects took items and fled the scene before deputies arrived at around 3 a.m.

Starr Hall Opens Shop in Santa Ynez
Starr Hall has opened Lark Trading Co., a fine home goods and provisions company, in Santa Ynez.
“I chose Santa Ynez for my retail shop because it is special to me,” said Hall, an entrepreneur and branding specialist. “I was raised in Santa Ynez. I went to high school here and spent every summer working on my grandmother’s ranch and at her glue and crafting factory, best known for Aleene’s Tacky Glue. My grandma started the craft and hobby industry in the 40s. My family had the first DIY show on cable television (TNN) called ‘Creative Living.

ADRIAN Coast to Coast Deli is back open after a pandemic hiatus with a slew of new menu items.
Now offering breakfast sandwiches and a create-your-own omelet option, Coast to Coast Deli reopened on Jan. 4 under new ownership after being closed since last March.
Diane and Ray Broat decided to retire during the pandemic and sold their 25-year-old business to Potter Family Foods, which also owns Chomp Burger. The Potters are happy to have a great business, said manager Brittani McComb.
McComb knows her way around Coast to Coast, having previously worked at the restaurant. I love Coast to Coast and the people who ran it, she said. It s definitely the family love atmosphere.
