India s coal production for the fiscal year 2023-24 increased by 12.29%, reaching 664.37 million tonnes (MT) from April to December 25, 2023, compared to 591.64 MT in the same period the previous year, according to the Ministry of Coal. Coal dispatch during this period rose to 692.84 MT from 622.40 MT in the year-ago period.
Operation and coal supply were affected in the 500 MW Bokaro Thermal Power Station (BTPS) as hundreds of protesters led by Giridih MP (Ajsu-P) Chandra Prakash Chaudhary blocked the main gate of the plant since Sunday midnight.
