closer as days pass. both sides bringing out big names and big money to try and win this race. as you mentioned, former president bill clinton was in new york earlier this afternoon to campaign for governor kathy hochul, trying to give her boost she needs in these tightening polls. listen. all i know is i m supporting a governor and a government and a party that has provided tax relief for millions of middle class families, create tons of new jobs that pay well. reporter: now, just three days ahead of tuesday s midterm the elections both governor kathy hochul and congressman lee zeldin are working to convince as many new yorkers as possible that they are the best choice to lead the state in the right direction. so in recent days, governor hochul has been touting her record on taking illegal guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals and vowing to protect women s rights, blasting
fox news reached out to the murray campaign for her to appear as well, we received no response. tiffany, you were a triage nurse. you re a mom of three. what makes you think you can go to washington and be a united states senator against a woman who s been in office for, what, 30 years now? 30 years. i was 11 years old when senator murray was first elected, and i would like to a say washington state is better off, but we are not. i have a track record of fighting for the betterment of others, and that s exactly what i will do if washington state elects me as their next senator. my husband was blinded in iraq by a suicide car bomb. i resigned from my nursing job. i had student the loan debt and a car payment, and i had to be a voice for his life, liberty and pursuit of happiness when he didn t have one. scotty made a my miraculous account, became the first blind activeive duty officer to ever serve our country, so i really like my odds here in the state.
america. jon: shutting coal plants down all across america, says the president. here s how west virginia senator joe manchin responded, you might imagine he s not too happy. he says comments like these are the reasons the american people are losing trust in president biden and believes he does not understand the need to have an all-in energy policy that would keep our nation totally energy independent and secure. it seems his positions change depending on the audience and the politics of the day. politicizing our nation s energy policies would only bring higher prices and more pain for the american people. you know, joe manchin has been sort of the linchpin for democrats in the u.s. senate up to now. you would think the president would want to be keeping him very happy right now. those anti-coal comments certainly did not achieve that. no. joe manchin can thank his lucky stars he s not up for re-election this year. [laughter] but certainly, tim ryan in ohio, john fetterman in pennsyl
reporter: democrat stacey abrams continues to accuse kemp and republicans of voter suppression despite early turnout record turnout in early voting. it may further mitigate the effects of abrams attacks. but democrats continue to criticize the new law which regulated absent see ballot drop boxes, and the law requires absentee ballots be verified now by driver s license or state id number instead of voters signature. georgia s republican secretary of state claims the new system makes voting easier and more secure. we ve actually been sued by both the democrat party and the republican party over signature match. they said it s subjective. what did i say back in 2018 when i was running? we need to move to an objective criteria, and that s what we have done. reporter: local officials in cobb county are apologizing
meanwhile, the race for governor in the peach state is close but not quite considered a nail-biter anymore. the latest fox news polling mt. rematch between the two candidates has incumbent republican governor brian kemp with 49% of the vote, democrat stacey abrams at 43%. jonathan serrie live in atlanta with the latest for us. reporter: hi, jon. well, despite his apparent lead, governor kemp is still actively campaigning because he realizes he has to go beyond 50% of the vote in order to avoid a december runoff. what s going in his favor is voter concerns over inflation and the economy are overhad a doing democrat overshadowing democrat platforms such as abortion rights and climate change. for anybody who is an economy voter, wants to see prices come down but policies largely stay the same here in the state, they are backing up strongly behind above brian kemp.
