COVID-19 vaccination clinic comes together quickly for Palm Springs Unified teachers, staff

With unexpected access to doses of the new Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, the Palm Springs Unified School District quickly put together a vaccination clinic for district staff and teachers Wednesday. It is the first of what the district hopes will be several clinics to help vaccinate its nearly 2,500 staff members. While other districts in the desert are also planning clinics, the PSUSD clinic came as a bit of a surprise. “Rite-Aid in Desert Hot Springs reached out to us over the weekend and said they had 200 doses that specifically have to be allocated to educators, and would we be interested,” said Joan Boiko, coordinator of communications and community outreach for the district.

Gandera resigned as CVUSD s superintendent on In a statement, Gandera wrote that she is resigning to focus on family. CVUSD s board of education approved a settlement with Gandera earlier this month. News Channel 3 has obtained the agreement on Friday, which reveals that Gandera will receive $259,000 from the district within 30 days of Feb. 4. Gandera will also receive a one-time lump sum payment of $40,485 which represents Gandera s 40 unused vacation days she accrued over her time with the district.
