Dave Iuli has committed to Oregon, he tells Ducks Digest.
Iuli chose Oregon over USC, Washington, Cal, and Oklahoma. The 6-foot-4, 324-pound guard attends Puyallup High School, less than 40 miles from Seattle, and plays on both sides of the trenches.
Once the dead period ended, Iuli made official visits to Oregon State, Cal, Oregon, and USC. He told Ducks Digest after his visit that he built a strong bond with Alex Mirabal and Mario Cristobal, as well as the players. I just love the people and the environment the love that I got from a lot of people and the love that I got from a lot of coaches and players, Iuli said. I know I’m going to get that everywhere, but Eugene just felt a little bit different.
The Ducks are in a tight contest for one of the nation s best point guards.
So what separated the Ducks from Jimbo Fisher s program and the opportunity to join a talented recruiting class comprised solely of Texas talent? I really just went with what I felt in my gut. It was two great schools, he said of his college commitment. At the end of my process I was thinking what was gonna better me as a person and a man. I felt like Oregon was that place with (Mario) Cristobal and (Alex) Mirabal both being O-line guys. Having the head coach as an O-line guy you know you’ll be taken care of.
Can Oregon put a cherry on top of its historic 2021 class? It was really beautiful there, he said of Eugene. The weather was awesome. The campus has so many resources that they give you. You really can’t fail there.”
Current Ducks offensive linemen
Ryan Walk and
Marcus Harper II spent time talking with Kutas and his family about what it s like to play for Oregon and how they spend their time outside of football. One Ducks player barbecued for Kutas, along with
Eston Harris Jr. and
Dave Iuli who were also visiting Eugene.
Kutas spent the most time with Coach Cristobal and Coach Mirabal while on his visit and said he is closest with them among the coaching staff. Despite being listed as a defensive lineman by most recruiting services, he is being recruited by the Ducks coaches as an offensive tackle.
