The race for the playoffs is hotter than ever in the most competitive Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season in history and several rivals will meet head-to-head in Round 30. Here is what you need to look out for in this weekâs games.
Zenit seeks home comfort
With key victories last week by TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and Valencia Basket coupled with defeats for Real Madrid, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, Zenit St Petersburg and Zalgiris Kaunas, the playoff race has further intensified with those six teams now separated by just two wins. And a couple of them square off in Round 30âs opening tip on Thursday when host Zenit (16-12) attempts to bounce back into form against Baskonia (15-14), which aims to maintain momentum following a victory over FC Bayern Munich.

Micov returned to boost Milan s superstars
COVER – After missing more than a month due to injury, Vladimir Micov reminded everyone just how valuable he is to AX Armani Exchange Milan with a big fourth quarter in the team s come-from-behind victory over Zenit St Petersburg.
It is well documented that AX Armani Exchange Milan made major upgrades to its roster last summer with a battle-hardened group of stars with a long record of success arriving to play for Coach Ettore Messina in the hope of firing the team to its first playoff appearance since 2014 – and maybe even its first Final Four this century.

This week sees the first two-game week of 2021 with 18 games taking place between Tuesday and Friday for Rounds 19 and 20. The action includes a heavyweight tussle between the current top two in the standings, plus lots of confrontations between direct rivals in the race for the playoffs. Here are some of the plots to follow.
Top two tussle in Moscow
FC Barcelona (12-6) shrugged off the ongoing absence of key players Nikola Mirotic and Brandon Davies to break a three-game losing streak with a determined win over Valencia Basket last week and now heads to Moscow for a double-header against the bottom and top-placed teams in the league. Tuesday s early tip-off against Khimki Moscow Region (2-16) will be a game that Sarunas Jasikevicius s men will expect to win before all eyes turn to a big showdown with CSKA Moscow (14-4) in Round 20 on Friday.

When a team has a former EuroLeague MVP on its roster, there is always a little bit of a comfort level in close games knowing there is someone to lean on. When that former MVP can come in for the final 5 minutes with fresh legs, it s a massive advantage. AX Armani Exchange Milan was able to play that advantage when it called on 2013-14 EuroLeague MVP Sergio Rodriguez with 5 minutes left and he led a closing 2-10 charge for his team s first-ever victory over Anadolu Efes in Istanbul, 69-72, on Thursday night. Chacho , as Rodriguez is affectionately known, scored his only two baskets of the game and dished 2 of his 8 assists in the closing stretch to carry Milan to the victory. When Coach Ettore Messina called his number, Efes led by three and Bryant Dunston would soon score to make it 67-62.
