Pats drop third straight with loss to Blades

By Drew Postey Photo Keith Hershmiller. Logan Nijhoff scored for a third straight game, and Roddy Ross made 31 saves, but once again it wasn’t enough, as the Regina Pats fell 4-1 to Saskatoon on Thursday, for their third straight loss. The Blades sealed what was a closer game than appeared with an empty net goal late in the third period. Pats Coach Dave Struch said it was also a much better outing for them than on Tuesday. “The overall effort and execution, play without and with the puck, I think we probably deserved maybe a couple more power-plays, but I liked our effort better this time for sure,” Struch said after the game.

Pats Coach Dave Struch said he felt they played a good game against what’s become one of the top teams in the East Division. “Overall, they do have a good team, that’s the way it is, that’s where they are in their program, but I thought our compete level was really good and we have lots to build off of for our game Tuesday night against Prince Albert,” he said.

Pats drop 5-2 decision to Winnipeg Ice

By Ryan McNally Photo Courtesy: Keith Hershmiller The experience of the Winnipeg Ice was too much for the young Regina Pats at the Brandt Centre on Saturday afternoon. The Pats lost 5-2 to the Ice, dropping their second in a row and bringing their record down to 4-6-2. Head Coach Dave Struch says the Pats’ youth got exposed against a veteran Winnipeg team. “We couldn’t handle their 12 high-end forwards , and that’s in a nut shell really,” Struch said. “We know that we want to get the puck in deep against these guys, take advantage of their young defencemen, and (Saturday) there was not enough of that from our young guys.”
