Shortage of ventilator beds, O2 in Tamil Nadu

“We kept trying for a ventilator bed and were just not able to get one,” said a 42-year-old from Chennai who did not wish to be named. “It was traumatic to see my father gasping for breath and being so helpless. I feel I failed him. We made so many phone calls but to no avail, and his condition deteriorated faster than we could handle.”

While the government has introduced a slew of measures to cope with the situation, the system has struggled to stay afloat owing to the volume of requests coming in.
State home minister Narottam Mishra said the cycle of oxygen tankers arriving from different places had set in properly and this would ensure availability of the vital gas in the coming days as well.
Multiple purchases by a few hitting O2 concentrators retail supply
