senate. i will say this, here s the difference that makes me optimistic. when we were doing this bill last year, health care was the number one issue on the agenda. there were other important issues on the agenda. whether or not to send the troops to afghanistan. when we come back from recess, the number one issue before the u.s. congress will be this bill in the united states senate. senate dodd s leadership and i know i look at the bill that he, himself did. i know what he wants to do. obviously, there will be some opposition and a lot of people lobbying against it and some of the republicans are promising the financial community they ll kill this thing. i believe we will get a very good bill out of here, especially, i think this is important, this is now the number one issue that the american public is going to be focusing on and in every single issue in contention i think we benefit from that. senator dodd, do you expect to get this will passed on memorial day? the le

hi, everybody. welcome to the closing bell. that s a live picture of the floor of the new york stock exchange. i m maria bartiromo along with scott whopner. we had a rally underway, but, scott, we were positive on the dow industrials. with this fractional move it is iffy. that evaporated in the last 15 to 20 minutes. we saw weakness in consumer discretionary names. the dow pulled back, walmart is weak, at&t out of the telecom space is weak. big technology companies, microsoft, intel, hewlett packard have weakened as well. this is the group that has been leading things for some time. no surprise we are seeing some profit taking. we definitely see strength in caller pillar, 3m, economically sensitive names. you have strength in commodity space. that is where the leadership story is. take a look at the materials and energy stocks. that s what i want to focus on as you get a check of the boards here. iron ore prices will rise 70% in 2010 in part because of demand by chi
