once those things are done. reporter: on gun control the deal worked out by joe manchin and pat toomey expands background checks to gun shows and internet sales and expected to come up for a vote midweek. we re discussing with colleagues on both sides. we ve got bipartisan support. reporter: but there s bipartisan opposition too. today s problems are tomorrow s loopholes. we re talking about background checks as if criminals won t get them because they have to go through a background check. reporter: maine s susan collins the first republican to come out publicly telling nbc she will back that manchin/toomey gun control plan. she s aware that a lot of people back home may not. tracie potts, thank you. today is tax day and that includes everyone even the obamas. the white house releasing the president s 2012 tax returns and the commander in chief took a little bit of a hit. mr. obama and first lady michelle made more than $600,000, about $80,000 less than 2011.

number than expected, a big drop of 42,000 from last week. so when you get good news you get bad news, it goes up. you get good news and the stock market goes up once again. which is characteristic of bull markets, either bad or good. but, you know, we talked a lot about the stock market yesterday and the crazy thing is that, you know how you can find in the mental institutions, you can find a lot of people that think that the people on tv are talking about them, they think they re talking directly to them? i ve had viewers write in and saying, i happen you re talking directly to me. it s a sick, delusional thing. but even my guy with the jacket, the guy at the cme, i wasn t talking directly to him about being wrong. i m talking about if you look at a one-year chart, if you go back, let s say six months, we were at 12,400. basically. now we re at 14,000. so we re talking about 2,500 points. a 5% correction is somewhere around 600 or 700 points. hold on this chart. go back
