On December 19, the Indian second innings at Adelaide ended when Shami sustained a fracture after being hit on the right hand while trying to sway away from a bouncer delivered by Australia’s fastest bowler Pat Cummins. By then, of course, the match was virtually over with Australia having to score only 90 to win the first of the four-Test series. Shami will be out of action for six weeks and could miss the first Test against England which begins on February 5, 2021, at the Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium at Ahmedabad.
