Packed Houston clubs that violated COVID-19 protocols received a stern warning this weekend in the form of liquor permit suspensions from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. TABC officials discovered several violations of Texas COVID-19 safety measures this past weekend that merited heightened scrutiny and punishment.

HOUSTON – The owner of a nightclub shuttered by the Houston Fire Department over the weekend said Monday the ordeal could have been prevented had he been allowed to hire increased off-duty police officers for security.
Zach Truesdell, owner of Spire Nightclub, said he had hired 14 Harris County sheriff’s deputies to work Saturday night.
“Our Harris County officers, their permit had been pulled to work our event for the weekend,” Truesdell said. “All this would have been prevented if we would have had our Harris County sheriffs working with us that night.”

Fabolous were all set to make an appearance at a Houston nightclub Saturday before fire marshals shut down the party.
Houston’s ABC 13 reports about 200 people were waiting in line to enter Club Spire, which was already packed beyond capacity inside, according to the city’s Fire Marshal’s office.
“If there was an emergency, a fire or something that would have occurred inside, we would have had a massive loss of life because the means of entry,” said Fire Chief
Samuel Pena. “The exits were blocked.”
Some of the individuals waiting in line traveled as far as New Orleans for an event called “The Black Affair,” hosted by both Songz and Fabolous. The club’s management decided to close for the night, opting not to re-open within capacity guidelines, according to Pena.

On Saturday night, The Spire was evacuated and closed after being filled beyond capacity, according to HFD Chief Samuel Pena. We re making these checks. I want to let people know, Turner said in a Sunday press conference. Different clubs and bars on Washington Avenue be put on notice. I m telling you ahead of time.
As COVID-19 numbers continue to rise (with numbers higher than when the pandemic FIRST hit), people are still carrying on as if we’re not in the middle of a pandemic. Everyday we hear on television or the radio to wear a mask, social distance, avoid crowds, and wash our hands frequently.
Yet, celebs and even regular folks just refuse to abide by the guidelines to help lower the spread of the virus.
