The Rotary Club of Utica, now in its 109th year of service to the community, will present its annual Service Above Self Gala on Friday, June 7, at the Stanley Theatre, 259-261 Genesee St. Proceeds from the black-tie event will raise funds for the Resource Center for Independent Living’s (RCIL) “Arts at Many Hearts” Adult Social Day Program.
The holiday event raised $3,830 for the Midtown Utica Community Center, that provides educational support and tutoring to those in need, including the city’s immigrant and refugee population and multi-cultural children, according to Utica Rotary Club officials.
Members of the Rotary Club of Utica and other volunteers gathered to plant 40 trees recently across the city as part of the Third Annual Urban Tree Planting Project, a cooperative program of The Rotary Club of Utica, The Unitarian Universalist Church of Utica and the City of Utica Parks Department.
