Sungduan: RCMB builds handwashing facilities

SunStar + March 12, 2021 THE ROTARY Club of Metro Baguio (RCMB) joins in the observance of the Water & Sanitation Month this March. This is by implementing successive handwashing facilities projects for Lepanto Elementary School (LES) and Lepanto National High School (LNHS) in Mankayan, Benguet. Dubbed “Malinis na kamay para sa Ligtas na Kalusugan,” construction works are now ongoing for the said projects, which started through a groundbreaking ceremony headed by RCMB President Jerry Chan with Rotarian Ervin Guerlan on March 3 for the elementary school and March 5 for the high school. A 5-faucet handwashing facility with water tank reservoirs intended for LES. This is covered by a grant provided by the Rotary International District Fund through District Governor Jess Sama.

Sungduan: RCMB outreach projects

SunStar February 25, 2021 AMID the pandemic, the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio (RCMB) continues to provide help to many communities in need. From the recent outreach projects the club conducted such as at the far-flung community of Barangay Kadayacan in Maria Aurora, Aurora where they provided the residents who are mostly Kankanaey and Bago tribe with personal protective equipment and essential materials for health safety, they also visited the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center. Together with the Baguio Maharlika Dynamics Lions Club, they distributed food and fruit packs to the patients of the Pediatric Cancer Ward of the said hospital which was appreciated by the beneficiaries.

Sungduan: Donation for Kadayacan

SunStar January 29, 2021 AFTER a series of outreach projects in Cagayan and Lepanto, Manakayan, Benguet, the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio (RCMB) also reach out to Barangay Kadayacan in Maria Aurora, Aurora. Recently, RCMB sent a supply of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to the community to ensure their health safety amid the continuous threat of the coronavirus. The club also provided this far-flung area, which is a home of mostly Kankanaey and Bago tribe, an electric kettle, water manual pump, digital BP apparatus, non-contact thermometer, and mosquito lamp. “We will continue to work relentlessly with local institutions to support their basic needs during these trying times,” RCMB President Jerry Chan said.

Sungduan: 9th and 10th Wave

SunStar + January 16, 2021 THERE are still residents in Cagayan affected by the previous typhoon who need help. Some of them were given assistance by the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio lately. During the ninth wave of relief operations of the group under the “Action Tulong Para sa Cagayan” project, several sick and well patients in Tuguegarao were personally visited and provided small cash and basic relief items. Relief distribution team head Rotarian Dr. Christopher Ian Cabalza lead the activity and likewise the distribution of gifts to several minimum wage driver instructors of a driving school in Tuguegarao for the 10th wave of relief operations.
