Despite troubling COVID-19 statistics in Kemptville, the South Branch Bistro was choosing to host a “Mask Burning Party” at its location on Clothier Street, on Thursday evening.
The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has identified North Grenville, and specifically Kemptville, as a hot spot for new COVID-19 cases, and the B.1.1.7 variant of concern earlier this week making up a third of cases.

“Another business is opening their doors in rejection to FordNation third unlawful and harmful lockdown,” said Randy Hillier, the independent MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, in a Facebook post promoting the event. “Let’s show our support and be there to prevent the ticketing of this courageous business and remind FordNation that we reject his lockdowns.”
